Electrical Engineer

LOCATION:   Savannah, Georgia

Our Industrial Services Division is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in the Savannah, GA office.  This position will be able to work independently or as part of a team on small to large scale industrial projects.  Projects include low and medium voltage power distribution, power generation, lighting, and process instrumentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the planning, scheduling, design, and construction phases of electrical engineering projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Development of equipment specifications
    • MV Switchgear
    • Motor control centers
    • Transformers
    • Panelboards
  • Development of construction specifications and scope of work documents
  • Design and prepare construction documentation.
    • Single line diagrams
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Panel layout drawings
    • Motor schematics
    • Instrument loop sheets
    • Power, grounding, and lighting plans
    • Cable and conduit schedules and routing plans
  • Provide on-site construction support
  • Work with our electrical contracting and generator services group on design build projects.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience working in consulting or industrial facilities environment
  • Knowledge of the NEC and other applicable NFPA standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE License or EIT certificate
  • Working knowledge of power analysis software such as Easy Power, ETAP, or SKM.

Distribution Engineer /

Our Utility Services Division is seeking an experienced Distribution Engineer to work with us in one of our 4 offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage multiple projects; Responsibilities include service design, estimating, and coordinating construction for multiple overhead and underground residential, new business and other construction projects for government, commercial and industrial
  • Evaluate electrical power systems and design overhead and underground distribution circuits using current utility standards; Projects range from low voltage to high voltage designs
  • Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles to obtain permits for projects
  • Perform quality control and encourage safe work practices while maintaining compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with internal teams (sales rep, coordinator, billing, leadership team)
  • Visit job sites; perform inspections, determine and minimize all hazards to installation, return to the office to perform engineering design work and share this information with construction team
  • Provide updates to customer(s) regarding project progress and schedule
  • Develop design cost estimates utilizing estimating systems to create an accurate value of materials and labor
  • Coordinate design/engineering/estimating deliverables ensuring on-time delivery to the client
  • Verify all construction charges upon completion and reconcile material and other charges as necessary
  • Close jobs in a timely manner and meet monthly compliance requirements
  • Assist other departments with project designs, site visits and project closeouts when needed
  • Perform reviews of work by other engineers for submittal to clients such as:  structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker
  • Responsible for processing all documentation in accordance with compliance requirements
  • Additional duties as required

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering
  • Knowledge of NESC, electrical distribution design philosophy, engineering standards and practices, and regulatory requirements
  • High aptitude of analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Use creative problem-solving skills to identify complex work designs
  • Willingness to learn and work in a collaborative team environment
  • Comply with Client Safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations
  • Take personal responsibility for distribution projects and problems
  • Must be able to build positive relationships and work well with diverse groups, tailoring communication methods appropriately for customers, covered employees, supervision, and management
  • Willingness to work after business hours for local, out-of-town, and out-of-state trouble and storm restoration
  • Some travel, including overnight required (25%)

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of Utility estimating software
  • Georgia Utility Experience a plus
  • CAD or GIS experience a plus
  • Minimum of 4 years of Utility Power Delivery design experience

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

  • Reports to the Senior Project Engineer
  • Location:  We have 4 offices available (not a remote position)
  • FLSA status:  Salaried Exempt
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, both local and outside local area

Field Service Generator Technician

We have an immediate opening for a Field Service Generator Technician.

As a Field Service Generator Technician, you will be responsible for accurately troubleshooting, repairing, and diagnosing both routine preventative maintenance and emergency services while making repair recommendations to customers. You will perform warranty work per manufacture’s guidelines, perform start-up/commissioning on new generators and generator systems.  This position will work alone or with other Field Service Generator Technician’s to ensure all work scheduled is performed safely and to the customer's satisfaction. Pay range is determined by experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, diagnose, repair, and rebuild engine and electrical industrial generators, transfer switches, UPS, and switchgear systems
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, load bank, and have knowledge of Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS’s) and generator controls
  • Diagnose and inspect systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs, failures, and recommend preventive maintenance
  • Perform preventative maintenance on generators and other related equipment contracted through Current Edge Solutions
  • Repair or replace defective electrical or mechanical parts, as required to bring the equipment up to specifications
  • Provide written field service reports to customers at the completion of all services
  • Explain and defend warranty decisions; generate and communicate service bulletins to customers
  • Manage projects, as assigned
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and training to other technicians
  • Assist other technicians with large multi-person jobs or troubleshooting complicated issues
  • Provide superior customer service by answering any questions/addressing concerns, providing appropriate documentation and explanations of service such as parts used & work performed
  • Maintain stock and tools in service vehicle
  • Additional duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years of experience in servicing, and repairing engines, including transfer switch and/or switch gear
  • Good working knowledge of power generation components, power electronics, electronic controls, and fuel systems
  • Proficient with computers and field service software
  • Work well under pressure, in all weather conditions 24/7
  • Ability to handle multiple duties and tasks safely
  • Able to read electrical schematics and equipment mechanical drawings
  • Must have basic hand tools
  • Familiar with all types of test equipment including, but not limited to, circuit breaker timing apparatus, high potential AC and DC test equipment, high current/low impedance ohmmeters, digital multi-meters, relay test apparatus, power quality metering
  • Organized and focused, with excellent time management
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Self-motivated technician with a background of following established procedures as well as engaging in complex problem-solving abilities to provide solutions to generator issues in the field
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels within the company as well as with equipment manufacturers and other vendors
  • Must be available and willing to work after hours, weekends, holidays, as well as rotating on-call shifts
  • Must be able to safely operate heavy equipment as well as a forklift in accordance with OSHA regulations

ABOUT THIS POSITION:

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Service Engineer – VP Power Services
  • Location: Savannah, GA
  • FLSA status: Hourly Non-Exempt
  • Full-Time:  Must be available and willing to work after hours, weekends, holidays, as well as rotating on-call shifts
  • Paid:  Bi-Weekly
  • A job for which military experienced candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Travel:  Up to 20% outside local area (company paid travel)
  • Pay:  $25 - $40 per hour based on experience and skill level

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals, in all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
